Five-month-old, Alfie Filtness, was just 4lbs when workers of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Queen’s Hospital began looking after him.
“The staff were absolutely amazing and so kind,” said his mother, Goldie, of Church Road, Harold Wood.
“It was really hard to leave him when I was discharged but they looked after him so well it put my mind at rest.”
His father, David, also presented the hospital with a donation of £250 from his employer, Axiom Underwriting.
He was “overwhelmed” when his boss told him they wanted to give money to the hospital that took care of Alfie.
They held a Christmas jumper day at the company and asked for donations to help raise the funds.
All the money was given to the King George and Queen’s Hospital Charity and will go towards the NICU.
“It was amazing when we brought him home and he’s doing really well now,” added Goldie.
Both she and David wanted to express their gratitude to the staff who looked after their baby.
