A 28-year-old was found in Ron Leighton Way, near the junction with Wakefield Street, late on Saturday evening.
Emergency services rushed there shortly after 11pm but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A murder investigation has been launched and, today, a 23-year-old man handed himself in to a police station.
He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in custody pending further enquiries.
DCI Tony Kirk said: “Although we have made an arrest, I am still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or has information or footage. Please don’t hesitate, make the call.”
