South Ockendon drug dealer jailed following police raid

A drug dealer, who threw £1,200 of Class A drugs from a window during a police raid has been jailed for more than two years.

Officers arrested Samuel Ekairia, 20, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs when they raided a property in Galey Green, South Ockendon.

During his trial Basildon Court heard how as officers forced open the front door a Skittles bag was thrown from the living room window containing 70 wraps of crack cocaine and 50 wraps of heroin, with a combined street value of £1,200.

Following a search of the property police also seized a samurai sword, an axe, various mobile phones and drug dealing paraphernalia including deal bags, plastic gloves, weighing scales.

Ekairia pleaded guilty to possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply and was jailed for 28-months.

Following the sentencing on 26 June investigating officer PC Melanie Platt of the West Operation Raptor team said: “It’s clear from the volume of heroin and crack cocaine found at the property, that Ekairia was involved in the supply of Class A drugs.

“This is also supported by the fact that he was found with an axe and samurai sword.

“Drug dealers will often have an array of weapons because, far from being glamorous, that is the reality of their world, they will face violence or the threat of it from rival dealers.

“Fortunately we made sure in this case that those weapons and drugs never reached the streets of our county and Ekairia is now behind bars where he belongs.”
