The girl was allegedly pushed in the chest as she used a climbing frame in Dilkes Park, Darenth Lane between 5.15pm and 5.25pm on Sunday, 19 July.
Police say the girl was not injured.
In a statement, Essex Police said: “We understand there was an altercation involving the suspect, the same girl and another man following the incident.
“A 34-year-old man from Grays was arrested by our officers on suspicion of assault and he remains under investigation.”
Officers are investigating the incident and are asking for witnesses to get in touch with them.
