Emergency services were called to Hacton Lane, near Bevan Way, at around 2.50pm today.
An air ambulance was also sent to the scene and a woman, aged in her 40s, was treated at the scene by paramedics.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “She was taken to hospital for further treatment and at this stage her condition is being treated as potentially life-threatening.
“The road is closed in both directions and closures are also in place at Bevan Way and Derby Avenue.”
The closure is causing delays around Hornchurch and Upminster.
