Police issue appeal after series of sexual assaults in Dagenham

One man has been charged in connection with the alleged incidents

Police investigating a number of sexual assaults in Dagenham are encouraging victims to come forward. 

A male allegedly approached at least three women in the Wood Lane area between January and February 2022. 

He caused them extreme distress and they are still being supported by specialist officers.

Officers have arrested and charged a man in connection with the incidents but they would still like to hear from anyone else who may have been affected. 

Detective Inspector Gemma Cole said: “Our primary concern is that other people may have been approached and sexually assaulted.

“If you believe that you have been a victim of sexual assault, we want you to know that police and our partners are well-equipped to support you in any capacity required, and that we will deal robustly with perpetrators. We know that women are disproportionately affected by crimes such as this.”
