Police have arrested three men on suspicion of murder after a 60-year-old man died in Dagenham.

The victim was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with a group of men at the junction of Ford Road and Broad Street at around 12.06am on Sunday, 14 August.

Emergency services were called to the area where they found him suffering from fatal injuries. He died at the scene.

Officers arrested two men, aged 26 and 36, on suspicion of murder at the scene. They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A third man, aged 23, was later arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in policy custody.

The victim has not been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn said: “At this stage we believe an altercation happened between a group of men and the victim, who was with a friend. This then became physical, leading to the victim sadly suffering fatal injuries.

“We have arrested three men, but would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or the lead up to it as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the police by calling 101 and referencing CAD 36/14AUG.

To remain anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
