Barking Riverside is set to hold its largest ever event next month.

Emerge East will invite residents to enjoy a wide range of activities in Barking Riverside Station Square, River Road, from 11am to 8.30pm on Saturday, 3 December.

One of the highlights of the event will be a riverside sauna where residents can experience a range of sauna rituals from around the world. There will be two pop-up saunas, ice cold plunge pools and bucket showers along the bank of the River Thames.

A moored Uber Boat from Thames Clippers will also be hosting a session of Indeedy Musical Bingo where participants have to guess the song for points and prizes. That is taking place at 6.30pm.

Bola Obileye, who appeared on Gordon Ramsey’s ‘Future Food Stars’, will be hosting a home cook event. Visitors will be invited to try a range of cuisine that has been prepared by local residents between 12pm and 3pm.

Street food traders will also be serving their signature dishes throughout the day, accompanied by a cocktail bar with special Winter Warmers and soundtracked by the line-up of vinyl-spinning Emergy East DJ collective.

Next to the street food trades will be the Emerging Makers Market which will present a selection of clothing, gifts and lifestyle products from up-and-coming makers.

Visitors will be able to take part in free creative workshops where they will decorate their own Festive Fir tree to take home, make wreathes and kites, upcycle cloths and craft unique tree decorations with recycled materials.

Emerge East is free to attend and £12 tickets are already on sale for the riverside sauna. More information can be found on the Emerge East website here.

The event is being supported by TfL, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, the housing association L&Q, ecology experts Arcus Consultancy Services, Acre Landscapes, Swedish waste management company Envac, house builder Bellway London and construction engineers McLaughlin & Harvey. It is curated by Hemingway Design.
