The pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car in Barking Road, near to the junction with Melbourne Road, just before 1.30pm on Sunday, 11 June.
Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
The pedestrian was taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a critical, but stable, condition. His family have been informed.
Ahmed, who was driving the car, was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
Eesah Ahmed, 33, from Newham appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 13 June where he pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was bailed and will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday, 11 July.
