Three day summer festival to take place in Romford

The summer festival is taking place this weekend 

A summer festival celebrating the streets of Romford is taking place this weekend.

The three-day celebration of the town, organised by Romford BID,will be held from Friday 7, July to Sunday 9, July and include live music, circus acts, fair rides and carnival processions.

The celebration starts at 5pm on Friday with live music from local artists on the main stage in front of Tollgate House, finishing with a headline act.

On Saturday, activities will take place all day across the town, finishing at 9pm. The Liberty Shopping Centre will be hosting a second stage for the event, featuring performances from dance and theatre groups, and local musicians. The Mercury Shopping Centre will have free games and drop in arts and crafts workshops.

The BID has organised live circus acts to appear at The Brewery, along with a children’s workshop including instructors who will be able to teach visitors some circus skills. There’ll also be fairground rides on South Street.

Romford BID has arranged for face painters to be available to transform kids into their favourite character.

There’ll also be walkabout performers throughout the day and more live music on the main stage in front of Tollgate House – including an appearance from Time FM.

Between 10am and 6pm on Sunday, a huge selection of kids’ activities will be taking place in Market Place including meet and greet characters, balloon modellers and magicians.

A carnival procession made up of the local community will roam the town..

The weekend extravaganza will finish with a free screening of The Greatest Showman in front of Tollgate House.

Romford BID Director,Julie Frost said: “This event is a real celebration of everything Romford encapsulates – it’s a vibrant, diverse destination that is the cornerstone of Romford’s culture.

“So we’ve pulled out all the stops to ensure this is a sensational and memorable event for everyone. It will be the biggest event the town’s ever seen so definitely not a weekend to miss out on!”
