Romford theatre introduces ‘Pay What You Can’ offer to those struggling

The Brookside Theatre, Romford

A theatre in Romford have introduced a ‘Pay What You Can’ offer for its current production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

The initiative has been introduced at The Brookside Theatre, Eastern Road to bring in audience members who may have been unable to come previously due to finances.

Spectators will be able to choose what they can afford when purchasing tickets online.

Discussing the decision, the theatre’s Artistic Director Jai Sepple, said: “We know that times are tough for many people with the current cost of living crisis and we wanted to introduce this new initiative to ensure there is an opportunity for as many people at possible to see this spectacular show at this magical time of year.”

“It’s really important to us that everyone in our local community gets the opportunity to enjoy live theatre and we hope that people understand exactly who the initiative is aimed at and offer those less fortunate the chance to enjoy our community theatre.”

“We hope to welcome people who haven’t ever been to the Brookside Theatre before.”

The production is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and Disney’s classic animated film.

The ‘Pay What You Can’ offer is available on selected performances from now until Saturday, 23 December 2023.

Tickets are available on the theatre’s website.
