A new shop has recently opened at King George Hospital in Ilford.

The store, which is located in the hospital atrium, opened on Thursday, 11 January following repeated requests from staff and patients.

It’s stocked with essential items from sandwiches to shower gel. Developing and building the store only took five weeks.

The shop was introduced by the Estates and Facilities team and Mitie, the hospitals facility management company who run it.

Director of Estates and Facilities, Sean Greene said: “This is something both staff and patients really wanted, my team received multiple requests to make it happen.

“We are so glad we could make it a reality. Thank you to everyone involved.”

Account Director at Mitie, Sonya Lanfear added: “It’s a fantastic addition to the atrium and we are delighted to have delivered this for the Trust.

“We will be asking for customer feedback on stock items and will do our utmost to accommodate as much as we can.”

The opening ceremony involved a ribbon cutting by Louise Dark, Managing Director at King George Hospital.
