M25 QE2 Bridge closure following concerns for man’s welfare

Severe delays remain on the M25 Dartford River Crossing near Lakeside

The QE2 Bridge has been shut this morning following concerns for a man’s welfare.

Police were called to the M25 clockwise near Lakeside Shopping Centre shortly after 6am this morning (Tuesday, 12 March).

The bridge was closed for four hours while officers worked to bring the situation to a safe conclusion.

The man is now safe and being cared for by healthcare professionals.

In an earlier statement, Essex Police said: “The Dartford River Crossing is now open following an incident reported to us at 6am today.

“We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man on the crossing.

“Traffic was held while officers worked at the scene.

“The man is now safe and being cared for by healthcare professionals.

“The crossing was fully re-opened at 10.30am.

“We thank you for your patience this morning.”

There was severe delays throughout the morning after drivers were halted clockwise between J31 (Lakeside) to J1A (Dartford) with a diversion opening at around 8.15am.

The four hour closure also caused queues on A13 from Wennington and Stanford-le-Hope and through Aveley. The bridge has now re-opened.
