Two cars collided there just before 7pm last night.
Police rushed to the scene and found the 39-year-old female driver of a Kia Picanto feeling “unwell.”
They are now investigating whether a 54-year-old man, the driver of a Toyota Yaris, assaulted her shortly after the pair collided.
Officers immediately treated the woman with first aid until ambulances arrived and took her to a local hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
The man remains in custody for questioning.
A witness, described as a white man and around 6ft 2ins in height, is also sought after by police.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or its aftermath to call the East Area Command Unit via 101, quoting CAD 5786.
