Appeal after 17-year-old slashed with a sword in West Ham

Detectives are appealing for information after a 17-year-old boy was slashed in the arm with a sword in West Ham.

Police were called to reports of a fight by Star Lane Park at around 6pm on Tuesday April 17th.

The victim had been making his way home after finishing college with his friends when a group of hooded males ran towards them. One of them was waving a sword. They chased the victim into Birch Close where he slipped, fell over, and was surrounded and slashed by the group as he tried to defend himself.

The suspects were then seen boarding a train at Star Lane DLR.

The victim received several stitches at an east London hospital before being discharged.

Detective Constable Georgina Hebron, from Newham Borough, said: “This is a nasty unprovoked attack on a teenager who was walking home from college. We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the attack to come forward.”

Anyone with information are asked to call detectives at Newham via 101 quoting reference CAD 6371/17Apr18 or tweet @MetCC. To call anonymously, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
