Appeal for information one year after fatal Newham shooting

Investigators are continuing to appeal for information one year after a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in Newham.

Karim Samms and his friend were shot in Pier Parade, North Woolwich on Friday, 7 April 2017.

Emergency services were called and found Karim in Roebourne Way, where he was pronounced dead.

His friend, a man in his 20s, was found nearby and rushed to hospital. He was treated before being discharged.

Detective Chief Inspector John Marriott, from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) said: “Karim’s family have been left devastated by this senseless act that has left a 16-year-old boy dead before his life had properly begun. It is up to us to find justice for his family.

“We previously released CCTV footage in the lead up to Karim’s brutal murder and said at the time that we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a dark coloured Nissan Juke in the area, which we believe carried the suspects to and from the scene.

“We still want to hear from anyone who may have been afraid to come forward at the time and can guarantee that any information that is provided to us is held in the strictest confidence.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is asked to contact police on 020 83453715 or via Twitter @MetCC.

Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
