The Council have provided a shop in High Street, Romford as a drop off point for the donations from residents which will then be sent as part of the Voluntary and Community Sector Emergency Partnership to areas of London with those in need.
The HVC are asking for donations of the following items;
All items should be clean and good quality, residents have also been asked to bag their items into age groups/sizes – to help speed up the relief process.
The drop-off site will be open on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 September, 10am – 5pm, at 40 High Street, Romford, RM1 1HR.
Leader of Havering Council, Damian White, said:
“We are calling on our residents to help play their part in the Afghan relief effort by donating essential items to the HVC.
“Havering has a proud history of supporting those in need and I have no doubt that our borough will once again rally to help families forced to flee from the dreadful situation in Afghanistan.
“Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated and I am humbled that we are leading the way in London to provide this urgent help.”
