A post office in south Ockendon has had a cash machine containing tens of thousands of pounds inside stolen.
Police were called to the post office in Peartree Close at around 1.30am this morning following reports a silver Land Rover had reversed into it.
It’s believed three men wearing masks and white crash helmets then removed the cash machine and put it into a black Audi before both cars were seen leaving in the direction of the A127.
No arrests have been made and nobody was injured during the incident.
Officers remain on scene and are appealing for anyone with information who may not have yet come forward to call Grays CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
