It’s estimated the thieves may have stolen as much as £3,000 from the safe which had been collected from ticket sales for their annual fundraiser.
Police have reportedly advised them not to go ahead with the event today as they continue to investigate the crime scene, which would also have been the venue for the fundraiser.
The money raised from the event is spent on new equipment, repairs and other costs throughout the upcoming year.
The burglars seem to have gone straight for the safe as the equipment has been left untouched.
Four shows were planned to showcase the talents of the various performers, some of which start classes as young as three-years-old. It was planned to begin at 9.30am and continue throughout the day until 5pm.
This morning they’ve had to contact the parents of all the children involved and alert them to the situation.
A raffle and cake sale were also scheduled to go ahead as part of the fundraiser but it’s now been delayed until the new year.
For the last 30 years they’ve been teaching gymnastics to children in Essex.
Police are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
