Give a Child a Christmas campaign passes £15k fundraising target

Hundreds of presents have also been donated to our partner GBP Estates

Time 107.5FM’s Give a Child a Christmas campaign has passed its £15,000 fundraising target, as we seek to help put a smile on the faces of local kids.

Our annual gift giving campaign moved online this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and we asked people to donate to our GoFundMe page instead of bringing presents in.

The fundraising target was passed thanks to several big donations in recent days, including £1,000 from McDonald’s, £500 from the Carers’ Union and £250 from Blue Star Print Finishers, as well as dozens of other contributions from our listeners and the local community.

The total of £15,000, plus hundreds of toys which have been brought to GBP Estates in Victoria Road, Romford, means we can provide for 2,335 local, underprivileged children this Christmas.

Our partners at the Romford BID have negotiated discounts at several local stores and will now spend the £15,000 on toys and other gifts, to be distributed to charities and other organisations across our local area. 

Lorna Waters, Station Manager at Time 107.5FM, said: “We’re very grateful for the generosity of our listeners and the local community. This year has been difficult for so many people, yet we have still received hundreds of donations and we are thankful for the support we have received.

“We will still be accepting donations if people would like to make a contribution. Anything over the £15,000 will go towards other projects with the charities and organisations we work with, including Ardleigh Green Junior School, which would like to buy sensory equipment for its special educational needs pupils.

“We now have the money to buy the gifts we need but it would be fantastic to support other projects which will help underprivileged children.”
