Emergency services attended to the serious collision in Rangers Road shortly after 11.05am yesterday, Sunday, 16 May.
A pedestrian was air-lifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car involved remained at the scene.
Rangers Road was closed after the incident, from the junction with Epping New Road.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
A spokesperson from Essex Police said: “We’d like to say thank you to members of the public who stopped and assisted with first aid at the scene.
“If you witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to officers, or were in the area and may have CCTV or dashcam prior to the incident which could help us, please get in touch.
