Redbridge Council launches “Wall of Shame” to catch fly-tippers

Redbridge Council has launched a new online initiative to tackle fly-tipping in the area.

The Redbridge “Wall of Shame” will share CCTV footage of people discarding their rubbish illegally in the borough.

Residents are being encouraged to watch the monthly videos to help identify the culprits and keep their neighbourhoods clean and tidy.

The first video shows two men shamelessly dumping a mattress, bags and waste in Ilford Lane.

It also highlights a man discarding a bag next to a bin in Ley Street, a woman dumping bags along a wall in Baxter Road and a man and woman leaving bags beside a communication box in Henley Road.

The leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, said: “Redbridge is our home and no one should get away with dumping rubbish on our streets. Our new Wall of Shame gives power to local people to help crack down on fly tipping and catch offenders.

“Working together, we can make it harder for people to dump their rubbish in Redbridge, or think they can get away with it.”

Redbridge Council has bought a range of new cameras which can be easily moved around various fly-tipping hotspots to help catch offenders.

The Wall of Shame footage can be seen online here.

If you can identify anyone shown in the footage, contact Redbridge Council by emailing Cleansing.Services@redbridge.gov.uk
