The victim, aged in her 60s, suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Leys Avenue just before 8.30am on Friday, 26 January.
Officers attended and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, the Met Police said: “Next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.
“We are aware of several rumours circulating on social media as to the nature of this incident – this is being treated as a fatal road traffic collision.”
Road closures remains in place around the scene.
