A man has been taken to hospital after an alledged assault near Hornchurch train station.
British Transport Police were called to reports of an assault near the station just before 7pm.
The man was airlifted to hospital.
A BTP spokesperson said: “It appears a man sustained injuries after he was kicked and punched multiple times. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
“In connection with this incident, a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm.
He has been taken to custody as enquiries continue.”
