They were called to Rainham Road South late last night.
An area of The Pipe Major Pub has been closed off with officers at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “Police were not called to any shooting and have not located any injured party.
“A forensic scene has been established while officers investigate.”
No arrests have been made.
