Two 58-year-old men were struck by a car in Petersfield Avenue, near the junction with St Neots Road, shortly after midnight on Saturday, 11 July.
One of the pedestrians was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man was taken to hospital for treatment, although his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The car involved did not stop at the scene.
A 36-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
He was taken into police custody and has since been released under investigation.
Investigators from the Roads and Transport Policing Command would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the car leaving the scene.
Officers also ask that anyone who was driving in the area, and who has a dash cam, check their footage for anything that might help the investigation.
