Emergency services were called to reports of a fight in Settle Road at around 5.48pm on Monday, 7 June.
The victim was found at the scene with a stab wound to the chest.
His condition is not life threatening or life changing.
A crime scene remains in place.
A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police were called to reports of a fight at approximately 17:48hrs on Monday, 7 June on Settle Road in Romford.
“Officers attended the location along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance Service and found a 20-year-old with a stab wound to the chest.
“The man was taken to hospital. His condition is not life threatening or life changing. A crime scene remains in place.
“Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or tweet MetCC quoting CAD 6143/7June.”
