The 22-year-old was taken to hospital after being found in Thames Road at around 4pm yesterday.
It’s thought he was approached by a group of up to eight people who demanded his phone.
He was then stabbed under the right arm pit.
The man was taken to hospital for his injuries, which have been described as serious but not life threatening.
