Fake delivery service gags Newham pensioner in violent burglary

Police are hunting the burglars who gagged an 82-year-old woman in Newham and cut off her jewellery.

Five men knocked on the pensioner’s door in Plaistow on Thursday, 21 January and claimed to be delivering food.

When she opened her door on Cordwainers Walk at around 19.00 they pushed their way inside and forced a sock inside her mouth.

After telling her not to speak, one of the men sat on her chest as they cut jewellery from her wrist.

All the men are all believed to be white and in their 20s.

The gang were thought to be wearing black clothes on the night, including one said to have worn a black Nike tracksuit with red piping on the trouser leg.

No arrests have yet been made and the investigation is on-going.

The Metropolitan Police’s Burglary and Robbery Unit are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the suspects to come forward.

If you noticed anything suspicious please call 101 quoting CAD006400/21JAN21 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
