Police appeal after man stabbed and robbed in Barking

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed and robbed in Barking.

The 31-year-old was followed home to Abbey Road on Tuesday night before being stabbed twice in a communal stairwell as the suspects took money and his mobile phone.

They demanded the victim give them the password to unlock his phone and when he refused he was stabbed again.

He managed to make his way to his flat and call an ambulance.

He was taken to an east London hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Three males, aged 15, 16 and 18 who were arrested on suspicion of robbery have since been released under investigation.

Investigating officer PC Steven King, from the East Area Priority Crime Unit said: “This is an appalling attack on an innocent man on his way back home. Despite the victim pleading with the suspects to call for medical assistance, they left him bleeding on the stairwell without his phone and cash.”

If anyone has any information, please call police on 101 ref CAD 6980/17JUL. Alternatively you can contact the police @MetCC or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
