Armed police in Rainham after reports of person with gun on bus

Armed police have been seen in Rainham after an alleged attempted robbery by an person with a gun on board a bus.

Police were called to reports that the person had been seen with a firearm on the 103 route service in Rainham Road just before 2.30pm this afternoon.

A nearby road, Brookway, was sealed off while police searched the area.

The alleged perpetrator and victim had both left before officers arrived.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Several passengers claimed to have seen a firearm although this has not been confirmed.

“Officers remain in the area.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
