Four males arrested by armed police after Asda in Chadwell Heath evacuated

The incident happened this evening

Four people have been arrested by armed police after an incident in Chadwell Heath that led to a supermarket being evacuated.

A group of suspects were initially spotted trying to force their way into a property in Fullerton Avenue shortly after 8.30pm this evening.

They were reported to have weapons on them, so armed officers responded to the 999 calls.

Officers detained two of them but the others fled to Asda in Whalebone Lane South.

Shoppers were evacuated from the store while armed police located the pair.

All four males have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and are being held in custody.

No one was injured, police said, and none of the officers fired their weapons.
