Four women and girl arrested for murder following Rainham death

Four women and a teenage girl have been arrested following the death of a man in Rainham.

Police said the four women, who are aged between 48 and 21, and a 17-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody. 

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance involving a group of people in Louise Gardens shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, 1 December.

They found an unresponsive 37-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics. 

Work is ongoing to determine his identity and ensure his next of kin are informed. 

A woman was also found with an injury to her wrist; she was taken to hospital where she was assessed as having a non life-threatening injury. 

The Met’s Specialist Crime Command unit have a crime scene in place and homicide detectives are working to understand what happened. 

All four women and the girl remain in police custody.
