Campaign launched to improve conditions for Tilbury Amazon workers

A hotline has been set up for workers at London Distribution Park

A campaign has been launched to help improve conditions for Amazon workers in Tilbury.

Workers’ union Unite has setup a confidential whistle-blowing hotline for staff to report poor treatment at the London Distribution Park.

It coincides with the start of a national campaign alliance, ‘Action on Amazon’ which is demanding a new deal for Amazon staff.

It is calling for a union for Amazon employees and for workers to get a greater share of the firm’s profits.

Today, images are set to be projected onto London landmarks to mark the launch of nationwide the campaign.

It comes as Amazon has increased its permanent workforce by a third as a result of its success during the pandemic.

The firm almost doubled its profits in 2020, making boss Jeff Bezos the world’s richest man.

Unite executive officer Sharon Graham said they want to give workers a voice.

She said, “Unite has opened a confidential hotline for Amazon workers in Tilbury to blow the whistle on poor treatment and working practices.”

Workers can also report unsatisfactory conditions online.
