Amazon have donated £5000 to ‘One Community’
‘One Community‘ was nominated by a staff member from the town’s fulfilment centre, to benefit from a special COVID-19 initiative.
The initiative is part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its UK operating locations.
The charity works with people in and around Tilbury to help them develop their skills and opportunities.
Money donated will be used to help continue training and workshops throughout the pandemic.
Bernice Barning, Skills and Development Manager, from One Community said: “Like all charities, our services have never been needed more than they are now.
“Amazon’s support is hugely appreciated and will enable us to continue to reach and help people in our community to develop skills for employment.
“Thank you to Carlos and the team in Tilbury for this donation.”
Amazon has provided a number of donations to the charity over the last three years.
In addition to these donations, the Amazon team and One Community Development Trust have together launched a programme to help members return to work and find new roles in the company.
Site Leader at Amazon in Tilbury, Carlos Guijarro Benito, said: “We’re proud to support organisations such as One Community that are making a real difference in our community.
“Its staff and volunteers have been a great support to people in Tilbury during COVID-19 and we want to lend a helping hand with this donation.”
