Chadwell Heath cyclist dies in A127 collision

A man from Chadwell Heath has died following a collision on the A127.

Police were called just before 8am today to Southend Arterial Road in Wickford.

A cyclist was involved in a collision with a van near the Dick Turpin pub.

The cyclist, a 30-year-old man from Chadwell Heath, died at the scene.

The driver, a 42-year-old man from Kent, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody for questioning.

The Southend-bound carriageway is currently closed and diversions are in place. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
